About The Author: Are You Listening? represents a look back at the last ten years -- a time period in which Gary Wien really began his career as a professional writer. Within the decade, Wien was named Top Music Journalist three straight years in the Asbury Music Awards. He's also won awards for his website, online radio station, and print magazine.

In 2003, Gary released Beyond The Palace, the first comprehensive look at the Asbury Park rock and rock scene from the sixties to 2003. To help promote the book he created AsburyMusic.com, a website that would eventually serve as the community's online home.

In 2004, he launched Upstage Magazine, a print publication dedicated to covering the arts throughout New Jersey. The following year, he launched ThePenguinRocks.com, an online radio station supporting indie and national artists.

In 2005, he was involved with a movement to create a New Jersey Music Hall of Fame in Asbury Park. Unfortunately, the group was not able to raise enough money to fulfill its dreams for the museum, largely due to dramatic cuts within state and local budgets.

Upstage Magazine was a critical success, but never achieved the financial success Gary had hoped for it. An ill-fated partnership led to the magazine's premature demise. Gary moved on to a job with a national Association based in Princeton where he handles their public relations and produces a bi-monthly magazine. In his spare time he freelances, works on book projects, and runs the website NewJerseyStage.com

He currently lives in Belmar, NJ with his wife Dr. Sherry Wien. The two met while attending Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia.
